Chi-Chi’s Pizza, recognized
by their famous logo of the friendly chef with the heavy rimmed glasses,
headquartered in Chatsworth, California with locations in the San Fernando
Valley, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley is celebrating its 50th year in business.
Generations of loyal customers are given the credit.
Frank Paul Miccolis opened the first Chi-Chi’s in Panorama City, California
in January 1958. That’s the same year the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles
from Brooklyn, New York and Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” was
on the top of the charts. Frank, known by his friends and customers as “Judge”,
came from Gary, Indiana with his wife Ida Mae. Judge came to California with
plenty of experience after working for several years in famous Italian restaurants
and nightclubs owned by his father in the Gary and South Bend areas.
Judge developed a large following of devoted customers in those early
years and many still come to Chi-Chi’s with their great grandchildren
today. Many customers tell their story of their first time going to Chi-Chi’s
and of how many generations their family has been going. Chi-Chi’s
wants to hear more of these stories and is planning a contest as part of
their celebration. “My dad passed away in 1992, but I know he would
be very proud that his legacy continues with his loyal customers” says
Paul Miccolis, President of Chi-Chi’s Pizza and the son of founder,
Frank Paul Miccolis. “This celebration is really to thank our customers
for their friendship during the last past 50 years”
This family owned business started with the thought of providing quality
Italian food at reasonable prices. Their latest catchphrase “What
does a 50 year old pizza taste like” reflects the fact that over the
last 50 years, Chi-Chi’s has stayed consistent and true to the original
menu. Their pizzas are unbelievable and the daily made sauces and fresh
pastas are the best around. Chi-Chi’s has never wavered from the top
notch quality thousands upon thousands of patrons have come to expect, from
the homemade pizza toppings in the kitchen to the Parmigiano Reggiano on
the tables. All of their restaurants have a good atmosphere and you
can tell that their loyal customers have been eating there forever to enjoy
their absolutely amazing, authentic Italian food! |
